The Resistance Man: A Bruno, Chief of Police novel

I love the Bruno books. Not for the crime investigation, which often seems terribly complicated and not especially interesting. What really interest me is the characters and the life they lead in the south of France. The food, the farms, the houses, the people. I like the depiction of the English who live there, and the ways they relate, or don't, to the French.  I am so interested in these types of books and they are so interesting to me the author kept me interested in the book throughout.
